DIY: Hermione's Striped Fingerless Gloves

Hi, everyone! Ever since I saw "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" I've been wanting to make a pair of fingerless gloves like the ones Hermione Granger wears throughout the movie.

You can see this pic full size here to really see the details of the mitts: http://gallery.the-leaky-cauldron.org/picture/267221

I found some knitting patterns for various versions of the gloves, but I really didn't want to knit the stripes or weave in all those stray ends. So I found some gorgeous self-striping wool yarn in similar colors to hers, and just knit a plain fingerless mitt with rolled edges. I modified this pattern by Knitty Knotty.

Perfect for reading on a cozy winter evening.

I couldn't find my copy of "The Deathly Hallows" so "The Half-Blood Prince" will have to do!

You can really tell how slouchy and baggy they are here: http://gallery.the-leaky-cauldron.org/picture/268828

Have you made anything yourself lately? Any patterns or tutorials you've found on the web that you'd like to share??

  7. fingerless gloves are the greatest invention since text messaging...im only half kidding. I love being able to get my subway card out without my hand freezing! Hermiones are so cute too. I wish I could knit well enough to do this. maybe someday.
